In collaboration with Simone Grübl, I co-created this photo series which successfully won the monthly challenge for Karma Mag. We jointly developed the entire concept and story, while I took on the role of the model to bring the emotional narrative to life in front of the camera.
This project is an award-winning conceptual photoshoot centered around the theme of heartbreak. While we developed the core idea, styling, and set design together, Simone captured the images and executed the digital mixed-media elements. My focus was on translating our shared vision through expressive modeling and assisting with the physical setup.
Challenge
Our main challenge was to authentically convey the painful and chaotic feelings of letting go. Working as a team, we had to sync our ideas perfectly so that my physical expressions in front of the camera would seamlessly blend with the experimental mixed-media techniques that Simone created afterwards to stand out in the competition.
Solution
We achieved a powerful, layered result by combining a strong shared concept with expressive modeling. By surrounding the setup with physical elements like handwritten letters and torn paper, we created an intense atmosphere that perfectly set the stage for Simone’s post-processing, ultimately convincing the jury and winning the challenge.
